Job Summary Statement:

 

This position is responsible for setting up machines/auxiliary equipment to manufacture plastic parts in the Blow Molding and Injection Molding process in the production of cooler related products to standard and goals.  The position also has to identify tool sizes, auxiliary equipment and makes first parts.

 

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Hangs molds and sets up auxiliary equipment to run in a safe, productive, and efficient manner and that production activities are carried out in accordance with approved procedures.
  • Sets up and removes molds in a timely manner.
  • Makes first part prior to production; uses HDMI Controllers for set points for temperature, air pressure, hydraulic pressure, and activates machine to make first part.
  • Identifies tooling size.
  • Identifies hoses for proper circulation.
  • Installs pre-pinch.
  • After Set Up completion makes sure no tools, bolts, washers, clamps, etc. are left inside or around the molds/machines that could potentially cause damage to the mold, machine or grinder.
  • Identifies all required auxiliary equipment (Hot Stamp, Drill Vent Machines, Foam Fixtures) needed for set up; sets up and makes necessary adjustments to bring molds to minimum specification.
  • Processes Machines and minimum levels (open and close machines, shoots plastic, verifies temperatures)
  • Starts up, restarts, and shuts down machines.
  • Operates crane or forklift to replace molds.
  • Verifies Core Settings that open/close component of the mold are accurate.
  • Verifies Air Valve settings that allows the open/close of components in the mold to allow proper plastic flow.
  • Verifies Nozzle Tips.
  • Uses pneumatic and electrical power tools to set-up, remove molds, set up tooling, dye rings and dye tips.
  • Verifies tooling, instructions, and materials prior to starting any job.
  • Ensures safe working practices are followed and all accidents, hazards, near misses, and property damage are reported at the required time.
  • Remains current on forklift training and certification as required by the company.
  • Monitors and controls assigned processes/molds.
  • Seeks solutions for technical problems associated with assigned processes.
  • Interfaces between Methods, Tooling, and Maintenance related to assigned processes.
  • Promotes Safety and Quality and Environmental awareness.
  • Ensures all labor and machine set up sheets are completed accurately and submitted as required.
  • Ensures work area(s) are maintained in a clean and organized manner.
  • Ensures that scrap is minimized through process enhancements.
  • Stops the production of non-conforming products.
  • Set Up Schedule: Able to read, understand & follow the Set-Up Schedule based on priorities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications:

 

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Mechanical aptitude required.
  • Experience: 1.5 years as set-up technician, mold changing and/or processing plastics experience; 6 months certified operating a sit-down gas-powered forklift.
  • Knowledge of HDMI controllers.
  • English language skills: Able to read, write, speak and comprehend English.
  • Math skills: Able to add, subtract, multiply and divide.
  • Physical Demands: Able to lift a maximum of 50 lbs. multiple times a day during a 12-hr. shift; Bend and stand in difficult positions for up to 12 hours; Able to manipulate tools with both hands and stand for long hours.
  • Work environment: Warehouse environment hot and humid in summer months, cold in winter months. High noise requiring use of hearing protection.
